Julia
Douglass is a musician
and cook. She’s a well known New York singer songwriter and storyteller
(“Smart Songs” The New
York Daily News), whose work has appeared on NPR,
WFUV-FM, WBAI,
WFMU-FM and
countless independent and college radio stations around the country.
Known for her lyrics and catchy melodies, Douglass holds music
degrees from the Yale
School of Music, and the University
of Minnesota and currently performs regularly as a solo artist
at the Living
Room in NYC. She is also a recent culinary school graduate
from the Institute
of Culinary Education and has externed at some of the top
restaurants in New York including Annisa
under chef owner Anita
Lo (Best New Chef in America, Food
and Wine Magazine). Ms. Douglass currently works part time
as a Chef Assistant in the Recreational Division of the Institute
of Culinary Education, in New York City.
Al Houghton
has been writing, performing, and producing music for thirty years.
He founded Dubway
Studios as a modest underground recording facility in the
mid-1980s. Since then he has recorded hundreds of artists in a
vast array of styles & contexts (including They
Might Be Giants, Alicia
Keys, Dr.
John, David
Byrne, Angelo
Badalamenti, Jules
Shear, and Suzanne
Vega.) An active guitarist in NYC's music scene, he has composed
& produced music for many live performing acts and record releases.
As the studio expanded into a full service audio post and audio
production facility, Houghton has found creative opportunities
in film and television as well, working with Nick,
Jr., MTV and
VH1.
His responsibilities as owner of Dubway Studios aside, Houghton
currently performs with Fang
recording artists and NYC denizens, Life
In A Blender.
